Internet of things (IOT)

From Wikipedia  :

"The Internet of Things (IoT) is the interconnection of uniquely identifiable embedded computing devices within the existing Internetinfrastructure. Typically, IoT is expected to offer advanced connectivity of devices, systems, and services that goes beyond machine-to-machine communications (M2M) and covers a variety of protocols, domains, and applications.[1] The interconnection of these embedded devices (including smart objects), is expected to usher in automation in nearly all fields, while also enabling advanced applications like a Smart Grid.[2] Things, in the IoT, can refer to a wide variety of devices such as heart monitoring implants, biochip transponders on farm animals, automobiles with built-in sensors, or field operation devices that assist fire-fighters in search and rescue.[3] Current market examples include smart thermostat systems and washer/dryers that utilize wifi for remote monitoring.  (...)

MCC901 has been introduced on market to allow mobile operators or service providers to develop M2M services worldwide without any specific linked with a given country.
Among others, Transatel launched end of last year his own MCC901 services. To see how Transatel built-up their M2M services thanks to MCC901, please visit : http://www.transatel-sim901.com.

IoT is among the key business and technological transformation over next years. Already started, it is expected to grow with huge opportunities for many players and many industries (construction, energy, transport, cars, health, sport,...). New business models are being defined, new technologies are created (SigFox, LoRa, LTE-M, WIFI, ZigBee, ...). Conceptually, IOT brings very exciting applications with pretty new usages. It's however impossible to really predict how the business and the consumer appetite will be for such new things : how much value are consumers willing to pay for it ? How much value business is really able to create with it ?
